Following on from the successful 2018 World Rugby’s Women in Rugby Leadership Development Initiative, RAN invite Unions to identify talented women with potential to become leaders, who are interested in applying for the 2019 Scholarship.
The scholarships are open to women who:
- Are currently involved in Rugby at a governance level (Board Member) or,
- Are currently involved in Rugby at a senior management level (third tier and above) or,
- Have the potential to be involved in either a senior management level or Union/Region Board within 2 years.
The application form captures the basic information required, including a detailed activity plan on how each applicant would use the scholarship funding. Applicants must apply to their unions directly and each union should send the applications along with their letters of endorsement to RAN.
Upon receipt of all applications submitted by Unions, RAN will collate a short list of applicants to discuss with World Rugby prior to final approval. The scholarship recipients should be from World Rugby member unions only and priority is to be given to women from unions which are demonstrating growth in the game in terms of participation. Selection of applicants should also be based on leadership experience and potential, as well as the quality of the proposed activity plan.
The nominations should be submitted by unions to RAN by December 31st 2018, so that RAN in turn, can review all applications and provide World Rugby with short list by January 31, 2019. World Rugby aims to globally announce the new scholarship recipients on International Women Day on March 8, 2019.
Please submit application forms, detailed activity plans and a union letter of endorsement to nbrooks@rugbyamericasnorth.com by December 31st 2018. Candidates interested in being considered for the scholarship should contact their unions.
