For Immediate ReleaseSeptember 6, 2016photo credit: www.klcfotos.com/rugbyAfter a successful opening season in 2016, six proud rugby nations from the Americas will again play the Americas Rugby Championship 2017 over five consecutive weekends, opening on Saturday, February 4.Full national teams from Brazil, Canada, Chile, United States of America and Uruguay, and defending champion Argentina XV, will compete for the biggest continental prize, ensuring strong competition and a high performance pathway for six unions currently between the seventh and 35th position in the World Rugby Rankings.“The 2016 Americas Rugby Championship was very positive for the development of players and participating teams in a well run and supported tournament,” said Americas Rugby Chairman, Agustín Pichot, in announcing the match schedule. “Competition is key for the growth of the game and to have a continental tournament such as this is one of our key goals in Americas Rugby, which is very much aligned with World Rugby’s view for a more meaningful calendar for all Unions. The ARC will be an important part of this and will certainly grow in prominence.”There have been meetings and a lot of work done since the conclusion of this year’s ARC within each participating union. “We all want to ensure that the second version of this tournament is even more successful than the inaugural event,” added the former Puma captain, also World Rugby’s Vice President.The round-robin tournament will reverse home-venues from this year; the opening round will see Canada hosting Argentina XV, Brazil receiving Chile and Uruguay traveling to the United States for their game.Greg Peters, Chairman of the ARC Advisory Panel, from the Unión Argentina de Rugby, said, “Match venues will be announced in due course, as each Union is working tirelessly to ensure the benefits of hosting an ARC game are clear for fans and players. We are all excited to be able to announce the schedule of games so far ahead before the first ball is kicked.” With fifteen games in five weekends, the growing interest in the ARC will receive a huge boost with a broadcast deal across the six competing nations “We are very close to sealing a very important pan-continental deal to ensure that these very exciting games are available throughout the Americas.”“The standard of rugby available and the fact that each individual country has grown the profile of the game within its boundaries means the Americas Rugby Championship is an interesting prospect. We are delighted that things are moving in the right direction and that we are close to having this broadcast coverage finalised,” concluded Peters.

Tras la exitosa temporada inicial en 2016, seis orgullosas naciones de rugby del continente americano jugarán nuevamente el Americas Rugby Championship 2017 en cinco fines de semana consecutivos, comenzando el sábado 4 de febrero.Los equipos nacionales de Brasil, Canadá, Chile, Estados Unidos y Uruguay, junto al defensor del primer título, Argentina XV, competirán por el mayor premio continental asegurando así sólida competencia y un camino de alto rendimiento para seis uniones entre el séptimo y 35º puesto del World Rugby Rankings.“La temporada 2016 del Americas Rugby Championship fue muy positiva para el desarrollo individual de los jugadores y de los equipos participantes en lo que fue un torneo bien organizado y con gran apoyo,” dijo Agustín Pichot, Presidente de Americas Rugby, al anunciarse el calendario de partidos.“La competencia es clave para el crecimiento del rugby y tener un torneo continental como este es uno de nuestros objetivos estratégicos en el rugby de América, algo alineado con la idea de World Rugby de tener un calendario mas significativo. El ARC es parte importante de esto y seguirá creciendo en importancia.”Se ha realizado considerable trabajo desde la finalización del primer ARC tanto desde la organización como en cada una de las uniones participantes. “Queremos asegurarnos que esta segunda temporada sea aún mas exitosa que el evento inaugural,” concluyó el ex capitán de Los Pumas y actual Vicepresidente de World Rugby.El torneo, a jugarse en un sistema todos contra todos, revertirá las localías del torneo de este; la primer fecha tendrá a Canadá recibiendo a Argentina XV, Brasil como anfitrión de Chile y Uruguay viajando a Estados Unidos para su partido.Greg Peters, Presidente del Panel Consejero del ARC, de la Unión Argentina de Rugby, agregó: “La sede de los partidos se anunciará oportunamente ya que cada unión está trabajando incansablemente para asegurar que los beneficios de recibir un partido del ARC sean claros tanto para los espectadores y los jugadores. Estamos felices de poder anunciar el calendario con tanta anticipación.”Con quince partidos en cinco fines de semana, el creciente interés por el ARC recibirá un gran envión con la concreción de un convenio para la transmisión del torneo. “Estamos muy cerca de sellar un muy importante contrato que asegurará que se puedan ver todos estos partidos en todo el continente americano.”“El nivel del rugby que estará a disposición y el hecho de que cada país en forma individual ha elevado el perfil del rugby dentro de sus fronteras significa que el Americas Rugby Championship es un producto interesante. Estamos felices de que las cosas estén bien encaminadas y de estar tan cerca de sellar la transmisión televisiva,” concluyó Peters.
