PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD – Rugby Americas North (RAN) is excited to confirm the return of the Senior Men’s XVs tournament with the 2024 schedule and competition structure. The last time the RAN Men's XVs took place was in 2019 before the COVID-19 global pandemic. In 2022 and 2023, there were one-off matches in Mexico versus Cayman Islands, Trinidad & Tobago versus Barbados, and Saint Lucia versus St. Vincent & The Grenadines as teams revamped their fifteens programs. But with efforts across the organization and its Member Unions, 2024 features the reintroduction of the tournament – increasing and providing more competitive minutes, more formal opportunities to assemble National Teams, and another chance for senior men players to represent their country. The tournament also provides valuable development and experience for our region's coaches, referees, judicial officers, match commissioners, medical, and tournament administration."RAN is delighted to be able to host a full suite of Senior Men's XVs international test matches. The tournament was a staple on RAN’s calendar for many years, until the Covid Pandemic caused the cancellation during 2020-2023, said RAN General Manager, Niall Brooks. “Post-Covid, most Unions justifiably concentrated on their Sevens programs with the ‘Return to Play’ for the fifteen-a-side space being delayed. Teams from across the Caribbean and Mexico now have the opportunity to move up the World Rugby rankings and compete over the next two years for the position of RAN Men's XVs Champions (exc. USA and Canada). I am sure that all teams, players and spectators are eagerly looking forward to the games and the renewal of old rivalries, commencing with Trinidad and Tobago playing their neighbors Guyana, on April 27."
The tournament kicks off with Trindad & Tobago hosting Guyana at Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad at 4:00 PM AST / 1:00 PM PDT. The match can be watched LIVE here via YouTube,
